Let’s Get Started to
Boost YOUR Engagement
Facebook Basics
Instagram Basics
Step 1
Social Media Clean Up
Facebook:
Update your profile picture to a close up picture of only you so we can see your beautiful face (avoid group photos, pets, sunsets, etc.) Be sure that the lighting is good. Do not have a window behind you – you always want the light shining on your face so look towards the window or, if outside, look towards the sun. No sunglasses- people need to see your eyes! Be sure the picture is clear and not blurry. Lastly, look happy! Put a big smile on your face.
When you update your picture, you will get a lot of engagement. Facebook and Instagram push out your profile pic update to all your friends and followers. So, be prepared to have a lot of messaging to do!
Comment on every comment someone makes on the updated picture. If someone says “great pic,” you reply back with “thank you” or “thanks” or, you might add more to it – “so good to see you here! It’s been a while”
For all the people who 👍or ❤️your picture, you will want to send them a private message in Messenger and say something like,”Thanks for the love on my profile pic. I truly appreciate it.” Or, something like that. Comment on every single comment and private message everyone who likes or loves your post!
Example:
Update your Facebook Bio to say something like: I help women aged 35-55 strengthen their metabolism so that they can sleep better. Or, I help men aged 45-65 increase their energy levels. The “team” target market is helping people strengthen their metabolism which helps with weight loss, hormones, sleep, stress, fitness levels and so much more!
Your social media profile is now your “storefront” – treat it as a place of business. What about my friends? We will teach you how to create a list so that you can post things just for friends and family.
We also want to go through your social media profile and make sure that you “clean up” or remove anything that does not support your brand. What do we mean by this? Go through your “feed” and clean things up. Get rid of any negative posts or anything that creates controversy.
Instagram Instructions
Change Instagram Handle
If you haven’t done so already, change your Instagram handle to something that makes more sense than the one IG assigned to you.
First Name, Last Name works perfectly.
Clean up your Bio
Don’t use the word Shaklee in your bio
Update your Profile Pic
Be sure your pic is clear, has good lighting and is a close up of your face
Must be a recent pic
And, SMILE! 😁
Update your Name
If your username isn’t your name, make sure your name is your full name. Or, change your Instagram to your user name. (Example: @firstlastname or @firstname_lastname)
Provide a Bio
Have your bio tell a sneak peek of your story
Use clear words to give an umbrella of the content you’ll be posting
Add 1-3 short statements about who you are, topics you love, certifications you have
For example: authentic, real, you get what you see, never fake, health coach, personal trainer, holistic healer, yogi, naturopath, chiropractor, stay at home mom/dad, Vet, etc.

Set up a mini website
This may be too sophisticated for where you are at right now. If so, skip and come back to it in a month. If you plan to post about products in the future, we recommend that you set up a linktr.ee or milkshake mini website where you can drop sales links, etc. You would post this link in your bio versus the Shaklee personal website or direct Shaklee product page link. This is not required to get your IG launched. But, it is suggested so that you can post ab
Step 2
Social Media Settings
Check to make sure your settings are set to public for both posts and comments.
Step 3
Posts & Stories
You’ve updated your profile picture to create engagement and now let’s discuss a very specific type of post: the Engagement post. An engagement post creates conversation and fun with your friends and followers. Remember to comment back to every comment. If you’re able to move some of those conversations over to direct messages (DM’s) or Messenger, that is fantastic! With every post, include language that asks a question and/or personalizes the post for you.
Instructions:
📸Picture/Image:
Post a selfie or photo of you, use the image below, or make the image below on Facebook.

💬Caption (these are the words/text for the image)
I’ve got so many awesome people on my friends list, but I’d love to know where you live? Drop it in the chat 👇
Stories:
Showing up as yourself on your social media page allows your “followers” to know, like, and trust you. This is what turns followers into paying customers. People love to buy from people they feel that they know and trust.
The more you post stories on social media, the more your posts will show up in the feed. Social media is one of the best places to market your business online, gain a loyal following, and build a community that supports your business and your values. Plus, at the moment, it is free advertising!
Instructions:
Save the images below and post them in your Instagram stories or, even better, re-create your own in Instagram if you’re feeling up to the challenge!
💡Don’t forget to link your Instagram to your Facebook accounts so that you can share stories to both! To learn how CLICK HERE

Step 4
Start Conversations
Your updated profile picture is a great way to start conversations because it creates engagement. Facebook and Instagram push your profile out to more people when you update a photo. Engagement is when people like, comment, share or view your post. The more engagement a post gets, the more people will see it.
What you want to do next is “engage back” or “chat back” (not just “like” their comment) with everyone who comments on your new photo. If you can ask a question to keep the convo going, please do!
Just a side note about the 👍, ❤️, 🤗 , 😢 , 😲 reactions, the least impactful is the 👍 or “like” reaction. If at all possible, try to use any reaction except that one when on other people’s profiles.
Begin to practice moving the conversation over to Messenger or to DM’s. After chatting back to their comment, send a PM/DM and say something like:
“Thanks for commenting on my new profile picture 🤩. I appreciate the “love.” It was great to see your name pop up. What have you been up to?”
Step 5
Learn How to Share YOUR link
Watch the videos below on how to share a cart. You want to be sure to get credit! You will add your link to your announcement story that you will learn more about below.
There are 3 basic ways to share your link:
1 – Share from a product page on the app or from shaklee.com (this will send people directly to the product you told them about) **The video below explains exactly how to do this.
2 – Use a share a cart link (This makes purchasing simple for your people! Put all the products they want into a cart and share the link. Voila, they can finish checking out!) **The video below explains exactly how to do this.
3 – Share your new personal website (you did set it up, right?!) This allows your customer to look around, shop a bit, and pick out their favorite products to get started with! You do this by adding your “website name” to the end of the site. Example: pws.shaklee.com/yourwebsitename

Step 6
Product Posts
Where’s my first product post?
Your first product post is still a few days away. We want to increase and boost your engagement first. But, we are not waiting to share your website link or cart!
Make a list of the people you’d love to share Shaklee with. Here is an example of a message to send – please add your personality to this to make it real and authentic to you.
“Hi! I recently opened my own wellness shop and couldn’t wait to share the news with you! The products are clean, natural and the most clinically proven in the U.S. Would you be willing to check out my website? Do some poking around, maybe do some shopping and perhaps be one of my very first customers? Let me know if you’d like the link. And, if not, no worries!”
Step 7
